Santa’s wish list
It's the holiday season again. The air is filled with wishes and anticipation. If an RF designer wrote a list for Santa, what would it look like?
As a mother of two, I am used to Santa’s wish lists longer than you can imagine. Some wishes are easy to fulfil, with some you must sweat a little. Some might call for a compromise and some you may skip as completely impossible. Nevertheless, the list must be carefully reviewed before rushing off to shopping.
If an RF designer wrote a Christmas wish list for the perfect material for his antenna, what would it look like? Would it be a long one? Filled with impossible wishes? Or perhaps one that Santa could fulfil without any trouble?
Firstly, I am pretty sure the list would include low losses – especially at mmWave frequencies, which are very vulnerable to material losses. Secondly, the designer probably appreciates controlled and tailored dielectric constant. Naturally, the material should be stable over frequency, temperature and moisture as well as suitable for mass-production. Quite often a speedy prototyping process is also a must-have. I guess that good processability, fast manufacturing process and low total costs wouldn’t do any harm either. And last, but definitely not the least, the material should obviously be a perfect match with the design.
So, after reviewing the list, is it impossible to fulfil? I dare to say not and challenge you to take a tour on our site. If something doesn’t add up to your personal wish list, you challenge us – we are ready for it!
